We are Terroir

A Truly Gorge Grown Experience

It all started when…

Stefanie and I met during the 80’s in the Lyle school district. We became close while playing high-school sports together - volleyball, basketball and track. We were the “big girls” post players, hitters and throwers! We continued our friendship though college, marriage and into adulthood.

Stefanie returned to her homesteaded family property in Lyle, WA upon completion of her nursing degree at Clark’s College and marrying Frank Boen (Her now husband of 20+ years).

Stefanie visited me while I was living and working in the Napa Valley of CA. We toured wineries and dreamed of a project together on her family property. She could farm the produce and I could make the wine and food. In 2014 I too returned to Lyle and so the dream began to manifest into the 3D.

In 2014 I opened Big River Laboratories (BRL) a wine and beverage laboratory. In 2015, I completed the licensing for Tetrahedron. Tetrahedron is a small winery nestled on a hillside property that has been in the family for three generations. I was blessed with the opportunity to purchase the property from my Mother and her two siblings after the passing of my wonderful grandparents, Carl and Shirley Jasperson. I am forever grateful.

In 2022 a traumatizing event for me occurred. I lost my lab and tasting room property on Hwy 14 in Lyle. It is a long and ugly story. Luckily there are few times in life I have felt so betrayed. However, I do believe there are forces in the universe that know better than I. In that I will simply throw out a trope - God works in mysterious ways. The bright side of this event is that Stefanie and Frank decided it was time to take the next step in manifesting our dream. They began planning the build of a winery and tasting room space on their vineyard property. The future site of Tetrahedron at Sauter Farms!
